Five Years, Still Improving: A Dubai Client's Story with Thin Flexible LED Strip for Cabinet Lighting
When a Dubai‑based cabinetry company known for its high‑quality, modern‑design work first reached out to us back in 2021, the need was simple to say and hard to deliver: an under‑cabinet light channel barely wide enough for a fingertip.

In 2021, Standard LED strips, typically 8–10 mm wide, were too wide to fit the channel. And the client had already been burned once by a strip that looked fine on paper but showed uneven "dotting" once installed.
Why a Narrow COB Strip Solves It
This is exactly the kind of problem a narrow LED strip built on COB technology is meant to solve. Unlike SMD strips, where light comes from individually spaced diodes, COB packs the LED chips so densely that the strip reads as one continuous, dot‑free line of light — which is also what lets the strip body itself stay so slim.
In this case, that meant a 6mm‑wide COB strip: narrow enough to disappear into the cabinet channel, with no visible seam once the door closed. For cabinetry, that combination matters twice over: the thin flexible LED strip fits into channels a standard strip physically cannot, and the light it produces is smooth enough to sit two centimeters from an eye‑level shelf edge without a single visible dot.

From Trial Batch to Steady Rhythm

We supplied a small trial batch first. The feedback that came back was plain and practical: installed exactly as expected, no shadow lines along the cabinet edge. From there, the relationship settled into a rhythm — not a single big order, but steady, recurring ones, first for kitchen under‑cabinet lighting, later expanding into wardrobes and display cabinets as the client's own product lines grew.
Five Years In, Still Improving
What's kept that rhythm going for five years isn't a promotion or a one‑time discount. It's that every new roll has matched the last one — consistent color temperature batch to batch, consistent CRI, no yield surprises — paired with delivery timelines the client could plan a production schedule around.
And "matched" doesn't mean "stood still": the 6mm COB strip itself has kept improving over those five years — better light output, better color rendering, better flexibility and yield — so each new batch the client receives is a step up from the last, not just a repeat of it. That showed up at the ordering stage too: each time the client placed a new order, our team didn't just repeat the previous spec — we'd flag whatever we'd just developed that suited the project better. That's how the client moved from a 360 LED/m strip in the early years to a 480 LED/m version later on, still in the same 6mm width, simply because it gave brighter, more even output for the application at hand. Somewhere along the way, the client stopped requesting competing quotes altogether. LW Lighting simply became the default supplier for led thin light strips in their cabinetry line.
