How It Works for LED Controller

Key Functions & Modes
  • DMX Mode: Operating on the traditional lighting control protocol, the AN404 can directly control DMX fixtures via its DMX interface. Setup requires connecting the power and signal lines (e.g., green terminal to the controller, GDP+/D- to the fixture), followed by configuring channel addresses and parameters through the controller.
  • Art-Net & sACN Mode: Supports networked control, allowing connection to a PC or other devices over a local area network (e.g., using MADRIX software). Configuration requires setting the IP address, subnet mask (e.g., 2.0.0.2), DMX Universe, and selecting the desired protocol mode (Art-Net or sACN).
  • SD Card Mode: Enables offline playback by storing program files on an SD card. The controller automatically reads and executes the lighting sequences — ideal for installations that do not require real-time control.

Artnet Controller  

An ArtNet controller is a professional lighting control device that serves as a bridge between DMX512 signals and Ethernet networks, enabling lighting data to be transmitted over a network for remote control of stage fixtures, LED screens, and other equipment. Operating on the ArtNet protocol — which is based on UDP packet transmission — it supports long-distance transmission and multi-device synchronization, making it widely used in large-scale events, theatres, and permanent installations.

Key Functions

  • Signal Conversion: Converts DMX512 signals into ArtNet network data, or vice versa, ensuring compatibility between devices running different protocols.
  • Multi-Channel Output: Supports simultaneous output across multiple DMX512 universes (e.g., 512 channels or more), with pixel-level control capacity (up to 5,440 pixel nodes), meeting the demands of complex LED light strip and controller designs.
  • Network Integration: Connects via Ethernet switches or routers to enable distributed control. Some units feature a built-in switch function to simplify cabling.
  • Protocol Extension: In addition to ArtNet, select controllers also support RDM (Remote Device Management) protocol, allowing address configuration and status monitoring of connected fixtures.

In practice, ArtNet controllers are commonly paired with lighting consoles (such as the MA2) or software platforms (such as Madrix) for live control, simulation, and long-distance signal transmission.
